Book—2012
The book presents the semester-work of the architecture office Christ & Gantenbein at ETH Zurich. Their research project is about defining building types in different cities, analyzing them and cataloguing them.
We devided the content into three chapters: essays, the catalogue of buildings (each displayed with floorplan, technical information and a picture) and finally an image sequence of the four cities that show the buildings in their urban context.
This clear division of content enables easy access to either the architectural information or the atmospheric image sequence depending on what the reader is looking for. Consequently, the buildings catalogue becomes a compact working tool for architects whereas the picture sequence becomes a visual journey that invites the reader to linger. A second book with four new cities will come out in 2015.
